Bertold Schmidt-Thomé, M.A.

„He is not a typical lawyer. When others think in black and white terms, he sees room for creative manoeuvre and finds innovative solutions. His excellent legal expertise is accompanied by a culture of humorous and superior conversation and his education as an art historian.“

Legal questions can only be answered in context. The most sophisticated legal advice does not help clients if it does not take their needs into consideration.

The context of art is timeless. Because of this, I added the fields of succession and foundations to the law firm.

Coming from a publishing family, I grew up with the issues that now constitute my professional focus. I advise entrepreneurs and their heirs, founders, foundations in their establishment and restructuring, artists, collectors, and institutions. My professional expertise lies in conceptual consulting—always keeping the next generation in mind whenever possible.

I speak German, English and French.

My areas of expertise and specializations

Foundation law and corporate law; nonprofit law; inheritance law and succession; art law
