Bertold Schmidt-Thomé is an expert in art, design, copyright and foundation law, as well as in estate management and business succession. He joint dtb in 2006 and became a partner in 2011.
Bertold studied law, art history, urban and regional planning in Bonn, Leipzig and Rouen (France). He holds a Masters Degree in Art History from the University Bonn. Before joining dtb as a lawyer, he worked with the German General Consulate in Osaka / Kobe (Japan), the Unesco World Heritage Site Castle Augustus in Brühl, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Leipzig.
Bertold lectures at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
Bertold speaks German, English and French and has a basic knowledge of Japanese.
Bertold is a member of Friends of the Cultural Foundation of the Länder, the Kaiser Friedrich Museum Association, Friends of KW, the Leipzig Law Society and the Alumni facultatis Iuristarum Lipsiensis - AFIL e.V. He is the director of the nonprofit Christiane and Wilhelm Ebert Foundation in Wuppertal.
